Dedham Savings Helps Raise Money for Young Adult Cancer Survivors

Dedham Savings Bank sponsored an event that benefits the SAMFund. An organization that helps young adult cancer survivors.


Dedham Savings Bank and The SAMFund for Young Adult Survivors came together Wednesday night for 'A Decade of Making a Difference' event to help raise money for the cause.

Dedham Savings sponsored the event and sponsored the "Support a Survivor" matching gift pledge which helped raise over $12,000 for The SAMFund.  The SAMFund is used to help Young Adult Cancer Survivors.

"The SAMFund has supported thousands of young adult cancer survivors across the country, providing hope, resources, and financial assistance to move beyond cancer,"SAMFunds's Leonor Cianore said.

The organization has awarded $900,000 in grants to help young cancer patients with their medical bills, car and health insurance premiums, rent, utilities, and even tuition and loans.

The SAMFund is still accepting grant applications for young adult cancer survivors seeking financial assistance.  The application is available at www.thesamfund.org. The deadline to apply is July 19.
