Boston Bruins Cuts For A Cause

Shaved heads bring scoring rhythm and new players for Boston.

On Monday, April 1, the entire Boston Bruins team, with the exception of Patrice Bergeron and Tyler Seguin, got their heads shaved at the 6th annual Cuts For A Cause, benefitting charities around Boston.

These charities such as Tufts Medical Center, Shawn Thrornton Foundation, and the Boston Bruins Foundation were estactic to take part in such an event. Fans had the opportunity to purchase VIP tickets for $100, which gave priority access before the event to talk and meet with Bruins players for autographs and pictures.

Fans were also encouraged to bid to shave player's heads. Bidding started at $250.00. Brad Marchand's head went for the most at $3,000.00. All together, $76,000 was raised for chairty, significantly more than was rasied last year.

Chris Kelly admitted to the crowd that he started to skate with Adam McQuaid again, both of whom sustained injuries prior to the event. He said that he's feeling better every day and hopes to be back on the ice soon. The Bruins twitter confirmed that he will be returning before we know it.

Shaved heads brought scoring vibes into the Bruins locker room. The Bruins had not scored a 1st period goal in 7 consecutive games, but that changed last night at the TD Garden vs. Ottawa. They were down 1-0 in the first period but scored two quick goals to make it 2-1. In the second period, Otawa tied it up off of an unlucky bounce, but Nathan Horton comes to the rescue and wins the game in the third period, 3-2.

The Boston Bruins hope to continue their scoring rhythm with the huge addition of Jaromir Jagr and others at the trade deadline. They play the New Jersey Devils on Thursday at the TD Garden and Saturday in Montreal.
