'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' Midnight Showtimes, Ticket Information and Trailer

Before Frodo and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, there was another epic tale from J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle Earth.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", the first in the three-part series, opens Dec. 14 and it's not too soon to figure out where you'll watch.

According to IMDB.com, the movie traces the story of "a curious Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, (who) journeys to the Lonely Mountain with a vigorous group of Dwarves to reclaim a treasure stolen from them by the dragon Smaug."

The fantasy film based in a land of elves, wizards and hobbits starts with midnight showings tonight, with its "official" opening on Dec. 14.

The  closest cinema that will have the midnight showing will be at the AMC in Chestnut Hill at 12:01 a.m. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.

Otherwise regular showtimes at Showcase Cinema de Lux in Legacy Place start Friday, Dec. 14. Visit their site for all show times.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" is rated PG-13 and has a run time of 2 hours and 50 minutes. It was directed by Peter Jackson.
