Five Things You Need to Know: Nov. 1, Concerts, Authors and More

Here are five things you need to know for Thursday!

Today's Weather: Today will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 57.  For Tonight, cloudy, with a low around 40, according to The National Weather Service.

1. Dedham Country Day School, 90 Sandy Valley Rd. in Dedham, will have an open house at 5:30 p.m.  Meet the administrators, faculty, students, and parents.  Families are also welcome.

2. Meet young adult adult writers Erin Dionne and Diana Renn at The Blue Bunny, 577 High St. in Dedham.  Join Erin and Diana for a reading, short discussion with Q and A, and book signing.  Great for middle-school and high-school kids and adult lovers of YA lit.  The event is free and starts at 6:30 p.m.

3. Tom & Mally Smith will be performing at Paradise Cafe, 565 High St. in Dedham at 7 p.m.  Performing solo, Mally will remind you of a young Shawn Colvin combining original songs, well-chosen covers and tasteful guitar with a voice that will capture your heart. As a duo, father Tom adds his own folksy originals and old-school folk style to their warm and engaging shows.  The show is free to attend.

4. Sheep Skate Yarn & Craft, 549 High St. in Dedham, is having a Kids Crochet class at 5 p.m.  The class costs $15 per session.

5. First Church of Dedham-Unitarian, 670 High St. in Dedham, will have Older Adult Fitness Classes at 9:30 a.m.   The classes costs $3.50 and are led by a certified knowledgeable instructor experienced in working with seniors.
