Five Things You Need to Know: Dec. 7, Artists Reception, Supper with Santa and More

Here are five things you need to know for Friday!

Today's Weather: There will be a chance of rain, mainly after 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45.  For tonight, more rain, with a low around 36, according to The National Weather Service.

1. Have some Supper with Santa at The Endicott Estate, 656 East St. in Dedham.  There will be four time slots for parents & children to choose from (1:30pm, 3:30pm, 5:30pm and 7:30pm) to celebrate the day with Santa!  Festivities will include arts & crafts, games, entertainment, tattoos, face painting, raffles, cookie decorating, tractor hayrides, model train display, food, beverages, Santa and more.  The event costs $6.

2. The December Artist of the Month Opening Reception will be happening at the Dedham Square Artists Guild, 553 High St. in Dedham, at 6 p.m.  This free  reception will be showcasing work from Photographer Alice Donaldson and Jewelry Artists Monica Fairbairn and Barbara Trainer.

3. There will be a Benefit Concert for the homeless at the Paradise Cafe, 565 High St. in Dedham.  Damian Israel Shiner & The Displayers will be performing for the free event.  The organizers are asking participants to bring a new pair of warm socks or some travel size toiletries as a donation. All offerings will be given to greater Boston homeless shelters for their guests.  The concert starts at 8 p.m.

4. The Dedham Community House, 671 High St. in Dedham, will have a Tai Chi class at 7 p.m. This class for Karate beginners is open to all from the age of 7 to senior citizens and costs $120 to join.
