Five Things You Need to Know: Dec. 21, Children's Holiday Party, Concerts and More

Here are five things you need to know for Friday!

Today's Weather: Today there will be showers, with a high near 50.  For tonight, more showers, with a low around 33, according to The National Weather Service.

1. Steve Marchena will be performing at Paradise Cafe, 565 High St. in Dedham, at 8 p.m.  His recent concert appearances include performances at Gillette Stadium, Jordan Hall, Copley Square Park, The Lebanon Opera House, The Timberlane Performance Center, The North Port Performance Center, Berklee College of Music, Harper's Ferry, Ryle's Jazz Club, The House of Blues, The Knitting Factory, The Middle East and The Boston Hatch Shell.

2. The Dedham Community House, 671 High St. in Dedham, will have a Tai Chi class at 7 p.m.  This class is for Karate beginners and is open to all, from the age of 7 to senior citizens.  The class costs $102 to join.

3. Stop by the Dedham Square Artists Guild, 553 High St. in Dedham, to see a gallery of the December Artists of the Month.  It's free and doors open at 12 p.m.

4. If you want to learn how to plan an instrument, check out Discover Music and Art at 597 High St. in Dedham.  Playing instruments improves our fine motor skills and hand eye coordination, music education overall engages both hemispheres of our brain.  Classes cost $32 per half hour.

5. And there will be a Children's Holiday Party at 381 Washington St. in Braintree.  Join them for cookie decorating and Christmas crafts.  This free event is open to children of all ages from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
