Dedham Library to Host 'Murder in Movieland'

Discover your inner detective in this year's "Murder at the Main."

If you love murder mysteries or even like a good game of "Clue," then you will love "Murder at the Main- Holywood Style."

The Dedham Library Innovation Team will be holding the event on Oct. 27, just in time for Halloween.

Those who attend will walk down the red carpet and chat with the starlets that are seen in the documentary "Women on the Screen."  This would include Rose S. Wither, Hera Wynn, and Scarlet Phire.

"The event will be a fun opportunity to show off your inner detective while working together with old friends and new acquaintances to solve the 'heinous' crime," Julia Prentice, one of the organizers, said. "You'll also have an opportunity to get a sneak peek of the Dedham Reads program coming up this spring while helping to raise money for events related to that program".

Local Dedham celebrities (who are not revealed) will pose as "quirky and scandalous" suspects.

"Last year, the enthusiasm of the celebrity suspects and the teams of sleuths was infectious and made for a very enjoyable evening. The mystery we have planned for this year should provide some exciting surprises," Prentice said.

Those who are able to to identify the murdered first will leave the event with some "red carpet-worthy" swagg bags.

"I'm very pleased to be involved with the Murder at the Main event again this year. An attendee captured my sentiments at the 2011 event when they commented 'This is a great use of libraries.' Dedham Public library is a great community resource and events like Murder at the Main highlight the important role the libraries play in community building," Prentice said.

Tickets will be $30 per person, but you need to be at least 21 years old to participate. You can also pay $200 for a team of eight players and that can be purchased at The Blue Bunny or online. More information is available at www.dedhamlibraryinnovationteam.com.

Thanks for the coverage, Patch! But please note, the event is being organized and hosted by the Dedham Library Innovation Team, not the DPL. We are looking forward to a fun evening, and hope to see many of your readers donning their detective hats and solving the dastardly crime! Kristen Overman President, Dedham Library Innovation Team
