WCVB-TV Channel 5 and Stop & Shop are joining forces on Friday, September 27, to encourage Bay Staters to Stuff-A-Truck with canned goods and other non-perishables for The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) and other hunger relief agencies in the region.  This marquee local initiative helps mark the close of September’s nationwide Hunger Action Month. Throughout the day, NewsCenter 5 will share stories about the increased need for emergency food assistance in our area and will air “live shots” from the collection site during the Midday, 5:00PM and 6:00PM newscasts.  At 7:30PM, Chronicle, WCVB’s award-winning, nightly newsmagazine, will show us the changing face of hunger in Massachusetts and spotlight the agencies helping to feed more than 500,000 residents each year.

4:30PM to 5:30PM: Former Patriots linebacker Eric Alexander will be stopping by from to help collect donations and show his support. Eric spent seven seasons with the Patriots and helped earn a Super Bowl ring following the 2004 season.

WCVB personalities will also be making appearances to accept food donations at various times throughout the day.
