New Fitness Mentoring Program!

Do you enjoy yoga, zumba, running, or playing sports? Do you like cooking or learning how to stay healthy?

The Newton Mentoring Alliance is launching a new fitness mentoring program. We are looking for health/wellness mentors who want to empower youth to try new fitness activities or learn about healthy eating habits through monthly activities. Each month The Newton Mentoring Alliance will host one/two activities for mentors and mentees focused on health/fitness such as kayaking, yoga, cooking classes, and more. The goal is to help youth develop a healthy lifestyle by pairing them with a caring adult who can help guide them in making positive choices.

Mentors will be paired in a one-on-one relationship with a young person in grades 8-12 as part of a year-long program. Mentors commit to attending one event per month with their mentee as part of a group fitness mentoring community, as well as meeting with their mentee in the community to participate in fitness activities once per month. Mentors are required to stay in contact with their mentee through e-mail, text, or phone calls during weeks when they don't see each other.
