Flirt This February: Inaugural exhibit at Mother Brook Arts debuts next month

 

Mother Brook Arts and Community Center (MBACC) is pleased to announce its inaugural art exhibition Flirt, described as “an intoxicating visual feast”, will open Saturday, February 1st.

All residents and art lovers are invited to attend the opening reception Friday, February 7th from 7 – 9 p.m. The reception will include a meet & greet with the artists, live music, as well as wine and delicious treats from Whole Foods of Dedham. (In case of wintery weather, the storm date for the reception will be Sunday, February 9th from 4-6 p.m.)

“MBACC is committed to being innovative, inspirational, surprising and exciting,” said Executive Director Jean Ford Webb. “Flirt will put a spotlight on the energy and excitement building around the Center, and we look forward to welcoming new visitors into our quickly evolving space.”

This 6-week show features the work of 14 contemporary artists of international, national and regional renown working in a diverse mix of media and conceptual framework: Patty Chang and David Kelley, Merill Comeau, Christiane Corcelle, Virginia Fitzgerald, Elizabeth Kostojohn, Danielle LaPointe, Judith Monteferrante, Robin Reynolds, Michael Seif, Iris Sonnenschein, Martha Wakefield, Jeanne Williamson, and Wendy Young.

The show is curated by Martha Wakefield and Jeanne Williamson.

“The goal of Flirt is to create an intoxicating visual feast that courts the Dedham community to embark on an enduring relationship with art and this new center,” Williamson said.

MBACC, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is the new creative center in the former Avery School in East Dedham.  It continues to evolve into an inspirational building for the arts and the community through the encouragement and support of creative thinking and all kinds of teaching, learning and communication. MBACC envisions an environment that supports the imagination and creative process of all ages along with attracting established and emerging artists of excellence.

MBACC is at 123 High Street, Dedham, MA.
