Hike to the Top of Big Blue
Sunday, October 20, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm (sunset around 6:00 p.m.)
(Rain date: November 3)
What could be more spectacular than fall foliage? Sunset from atop Great Blue! Enjoy the season’s finest colors this fall from the region’s highest hill.
On Sunday, October 20, Blue Hill Ski, the Friends of the Blue Hills, and Blue Hills Observatory will be sponsoring a free hike to the top of Great Blue. Hikers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and enjoy guided tours of the Blue Hills Observatory from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Complimentary hot beverages will be served at the top of the mountain. This is the only opportunity to hike down Big Blue at night; after sunset, the ski area lights will be on to guide the way. For safety reasons, all hikers must check in at the ski area at the base of the hill prior to hiking up. Volunteers from the Boston College Ski Team will also be on hand to help.
Fall foliage chair lift rides will be offered 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. October 12-14 and October 19-20. Park at Blue Hills Ski Area, 4001 Washington St, Canton (Blue Hills Trailside Museum South parking lot).
