Dedham Girls Softball League 10U/14U Spring Season in Full Swing!

Although it seems like Mother Nature has had a grudge against us for much the spring, DGSL 10U and 14U has found some nice (and not so nice!!) early evenings to get out on the field s of Dedham and improve their skills in some exciting games against teams from both within Dedham Girls Softball and our fantastic neighbors from Parkway Girls Softball. At the 10u level the 2014 Roche Bros squad has been led by Coaches Matt Keyes and Stephen Gentile. Their scouting report shows great fun and improvement being accomplished on a daily basis.

Led by hitting stars for Anjie Rodriguez and Rylee Keyes, Roche Bros has had no problems scoring runs and getting on base. Anjie has great power and has crushed the ball. Rylee has been very consistent and has a high average. On the hill the pitching star has been Giuliana Desimone. She consistently throws strikes and has a lot if strikeouts. Roche’s started out 2-3 but have been improving daily and look forward to finishing the the last 2 weeks of the season strong with more Parkway matchups and a couple of big games against Bob Peckham’s Dedham Savings squad and their star hurler Taylor Peckham.

Our last level of play is at 14U and Frank Bolotte and Charlie Kelly have been enjoying the progress and excitement on the field provided by their Royal Contracting squad. The battery of Maeve Bolotte toeing the rubber and Ciara Bolotte behind the dish has provided a plethora of strikes and frustrated batters, and when it isn’t “family time” for Royal Contracting at mound meetings with Coach Bolotte, Kassidy Hickey has been throwing heat to Alex Ruidiaz-Chaiasson behind the plate in keeping the opposition off of the base paths. Around the horn, the infield has been solidly shared and anchored by Ashley Gilarde and Cassidy Aiello at first, Charlene Kelly and Danielle McMurtry at second, and Brooke McMurtry and Emma Pelkey at third.

Offensively, the progress made by Kayleigh Spencer has been amazing to watch, while at bats that were frustrating for the squad early are now turning stomachs for the opposition, as Samantha Gentile and Kasey Corrado have shown what success hard work and patience will produce as the season has progressed. A winning record against Parkway teams has been well earned and well enjoyed with some great comebacks by the “RC Shamrocks”. Hopefully with a stretch of good weather and less cancellations, in league DGSL games against John Coyle and Dave Corsi’s Attorney Chris Cawley squad and Tom Salemy’s Needham Bank will allow all the 14U teams to continue their progress and fun as the season progresses to its mid-June completion.
