Solid Body Fitness to Host Grand Re-Opening, Heirloom Begins Deliveries

Below is a roundup of six things to know for Wednesday, Jan. 15 in Dedham. This list has been updated from its original post to include the sixth item below.

1. CrossFit SBF (Solid Body Fitness) in Dedham is hosting a grand re-opening on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its 123 Stergis Way location, adjacent to Legacy Place, according to owner Jay Zagami. The event will include health tips, fitness demonstrations, nutritious foods, and a live DJ. Attendees can sign up on the morning of the re-opening for a CrossFit challenge; prizes will be awarded to the top contestants in various categories.

2. Heirloom Kitchen, located on Washington Street in Dedham, announced Tuesday that it has begun delivery service to Dedham as well as such surrounding communities as Westwood and West Roxbury. Find out more about Heirloom Kitchen and what's on the menu.

3. Dedham residents interested in serving on the Dedham Conservation Commission or the Design Review Advisory Board have until close of business Wednesday to submit applications for the current vacancies. A vacancy is also available on the Council of Aging, the deadline for which is Jan. 20.

4. Registration for the 2014 Spring Season is now open for the Dedham Girls Softball League. Players that register will be able to attend free winter clinics to help get them ready for the season. 5. A special exhibition of the Dedham Square Artist Guild will be hosted at the Dedham Community Theater starting Thursday, Jan. 16 from 6-8 p.m. Th exhibition, which will invite and challenge artists living and working in Eastern Massachusetts to explore the concept of "pop" (i.e., pop culture, pop music, etc.) in all of its interpretations, will run until Feb. 16. 6. The Dedham School Committee is thanking community members who attended focus groups this week aimed at the search for a new school superintendent. Residents should also note that Wednesday is the last day to participate in the online questionnaire.
