Mother Brook Arts & Community Center Announces Inaugural Art Exhibition

1. The Mother Brook Arts and Community Center (MBACC) will hold an opening receptions for its inaugural art exhibition, "Flirt,"open to all residents and art lovers, on Friday, Feb. 7 from 7–9 p.m. The reception will include a meet & greet with the artists, live music, as well as wine and delicious treats from Whole Foods of Dedham. (In case of wintery weather, the storm date for the reception will be Sunday, Feb. 9 from 4-6 p.m.) 

This 6-week show features the work of 14 contemporary artists of international, national and regional renown working in a diverse mix of media and conceptual framework: Patty Chang and David Kelley, Merill Comeau, Christiane Corcelle, Virginia Fitzgerald, Elizabeth Kostojohn, Danielle LaPointe, Judith Monteferrante, Robin Reynolds, Michael Seif, Iris Sonnenschein, Martha Wakefield, Jeanne Williamson, and Wendy Young. The show is curated by Martha Wakefield and Jeanne Williamson. 

2. The Dedham School of Music announced Tuesday that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Aritst-In-Residence Concert, scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. has been cancelled. 

3. The Dedham School Committee is set to met Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

4. Keeping up with Dancing with the Dedham Stars 2014? Contestant Jim Forrest, who is also Dedham High School's assistant principal, is currently seeking support and donations as he prepares for the Feb. 1 event.

5. Dedham Fire Chief William Spillane will speak to the Retired Men's Club on Friday, Jan. 24, 9:30 a.m. at the Endicott Estate. The discussion will center around the fire department's history and techniques of fire fighting.
