The annual statewide Against the Tide is a fami ly-friendly fundraising event to benefit Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coa lition (MBCC). \; MBCC works to reduce toxic chemicals in the enviro nment\, which research shows are linked to the dramatic rise in the inci dence of breast cancer. \; Against the Tide will take place at DCR&r squo\;s Nickerson State Park on Saturday August 18th\, from 7 a.m. until noon. \; It consists of several different activities: \;a compe titive and recreational 1-mile swim\, 2-mile kayak\, 3-mile walk\, 5K ru n\, and 10K run. New in 2012 is an Aquathlon consisting of a competitive 1-mile swim and your choice of a competitive 5K or 10K run. The event s tarts at 7:00am and ends at 12:00 noon.
