This 3-session course will explore the basics of Oil Painting for materials used to Color Theory. The class will be working in miniature (2” x 3” or 4” x 6”). The class will look at color harmony, warm and cool color palettes, color mixing and choosing the proper colors for a painting. Working in miniature is an excellent teaching method for learning brush control and paving the way for a larger scale painting.
Instructor Bio
Richard Humphrey is a life-long Dedham resident and began as a self-taught Oil Color Artist in 2003. His approach to each new painting is a welcomed learning experience as it is an opportunity to experience new brushstrokes, create a new color mixture and experience an entirely different way to create texture. “Paintings can evoke moods and emotions, and with the proper color combinations and techniques, these results can easily be achieved.” He has participated in two Dedham Open Studios events and currently is a member of the Dedham Square Artist Guild.
