West Roxbury Man Arrested for Allegedly Biting, Hitting Cop at Yard House
The man and a group of friends allegedly were destroying property at Legacy Place late Saturday night.
Two men were arrested late Saturday night at Yard House, including one for allegedly biting and hitting a Dedham police officer as he tried to handcuff him.
Rudy Acosta, 28, of West Roxbury and Christopher Deshiro, 30, of Quincy, were tossing ornaments and plants from a large pot outside of Lucky Jeans, when police told them to stop and to leave Legacy Place, according to police reports.
After walking away, the men continued to engage in a verbal argument with police, officer Francis McMillan wrote in his report. He said he followed the pair and a third man when they entered the Yard House, instead of leaving.
McMillan walked up to Acosta and told him that he needed to leave, but Acosta resisted when the officer tried to escort him out. The pair wrestled to the ground, breaking several glasses, McMillan reported.
Acosta then bit and hit the officer while McMillan tried to put handcuffs on him, reports said.
Once backup arrived, a team of officers were able to get Acosta cuffed and walked him out of the restaurant. McMillan wrote in his report that he sprayed Acosta with pepper spray once they got outside to "prevent any injury to him or me."
Deshiro was yelling at officers as they arrested Acosta, and resisted orders to leave as well, police reports said. He was escorted out and "swung the front door open with such force that it almost broke the glass," officer James Lemanski wrote in his report.
Acosta was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. Deshiro was charged with disorderly conduct. Both men were released on recognizance early Sunday morning.
