Celebrate Breast Cancer month tonight by taking action to lower the breast cancer risk. Join the PinkRose Foundation for a special event at The Endicott Estate. The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m. The night will focus on the application of safe cosemetic products. A cosemetic database will help evaluate the safety of products that attendees bring, so go ahead and bring your foundation.

Happy Birthday to Paul McMurtry

The owner of the Dedham Community Theatre, and Dedham's state representative, Paul McMurtry, is celebrating his birthday today. If you would like to send him some birthday wishes, feel free to email him at paul.mcmurtry@state.ma.us. Happy birthday Paul!

Selectman Meeting Tonight

Board of Selectman will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the lower conference room of Town Hall. Tonight's meeting will include the official swearing-in of Lt. Mark Black and Sgt. Francis MacMillan, the introduction of new planning director Richard McCarthy, recognition of farmers market vendors and organizers, a discussion with Dedham Police Chief Michael d'Entremont, and a few other things.

Trendz Celebrating Grand Re-Opening

Trendz, celebrating their 2-year anniversary, will have a grand re-opening tonight from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. After the possibility of closing for good was in progress, Cheryl Welch, Trendz owner, decided to stay and instead change things up a little bit. So come on out and see whats new.

There will be raffles, refreshment and new merchandise for your eyes to see. Trendz is fully stocked with winter apparel, coats, shoes, pocketbooks and jewelry. Stop by and check out the trendy spot of Dedham Square.

Safe Halloween Event for Kids at Legacy

Free treats and fun await families this afternoon from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Legacy Place. While celebrating Halloween a few days early, folks can enjoy pumpkin smoothies, refreshments, activities at certain retailers, contests, story time and creative Halloween craft activities.

A guess-the-weight competition could fetch the best guesser movie tickets or a $100 gift certificate to any Legacy Place store or restaurant.

NStar Line Repairs Thought to Have Caused Issues

As of 8 p.m. last night, Verizon was dealing with some phone line issues, possibly linked to NStar Gas construction on Eastern Avenue. Several businesses experienced phone and/or Internet problems yesterday. Mimi's had problems with its lottery machine, Maribu had phone line problems and Mocha Java struggled with its Internet connection.
