Traffic Stop Turns up Drugs, Alcohol and Dangerous Weapons
The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Police found open containers of alcohol, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, mettalic knuckles and a machete inside a car that was pulled over in Braintree for speeding on Saturday morning.
The vehicle was stopped for going 50 mph in a 30 mph zone on West Street and when Officer Nathan Killeffer approached, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.
Inside the car and within two bags Killeffer discovered marijuana packaged for sale, a scale and weed grinder, sandwich bags and the weapons, Jenkins said. He also found open containers of alcohol.
Briana O’Neill, 22, of Dedham and DeShawn McKinnon, 26, of Hyde Park were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a dangerous weapon, Jenkins said. McKinnon was also charged with having an open container of alcohol.
A 20-year-old Braintree man was also in the vehicle near the open containers and will be summonsed to court on a charge of being under 21 in possession of alcohol. His name was not released because he has not yet been charged, Jenkins said.
