At their meeting last Thursday night, Dedham selectmen approved three requests for Common Victualler Licenses.
Regina’s Bakery, located at 591 High St., was first on the agenda. The former site of The High Street Café, Regina’s Bakery was represented by owner Patricia Hessasta.
Hessasta said she previously owned a bakery in Everett, but it wasn’t a great location because there was very little parking. She said she is from Dedham and lives in Dedham.
Since taking over the location, Hessasta has made a number of renovations, including painting and bringing the building up-to-code. The
plan is to have tables and seating for 12.
The Board voted 4-0 to approve the License. Selectman James MacDonald was not present.
Next up at the meeting was Legacy Donuts, Inc. d/b/a Dunkin Donuts, which is opening up at 806 Providence Highway. Co-owner Michael Cavallo represented them at the meeting. He and his father-in-law, Carlos Andrade, already own two Dunkin Donuts in Dedham. Cavallo also noted that Andrade has been a business owner in town for 35 years.
To clarify, the store is not actually in Legacy Place; coincidentally, that is just their company name. The store is located next to The Vitamin Shoppe. They are planning on having hours of 5 a.m. to 12 a.m.
The Board voted 4-0 to approve the license.
Last on the agenda was Visions Medical Center, P.C., which is located at 910 Washington St. This site has been a number of things over the years, so many that their representative and the Board shared a laugh.
Visions Medical Center explained that they would like to have a “juice bar” for their patients. It would not be a typical Common Victualler License because they would not be cooking any food. They would mostly serve various types of drinks, including coffee and tea, while their patients were waiting to be seen. They have seating for 36 people.
They said they are looking at this as a service to their patients. They said they’ve appreciated Dedham and that the town has been “awesome” to them.
The Board approved the license 4-0, and the meeting was adjourned shortly thereafter.
