Question of the Day: What Do You Think of the Verizon Strike?

Let us know in the comments section below.

If you have taken a drive along Providence Highway or through Dedham Square the last two days, you've either seen the red T-shirts on the side of the road or heard car horns rumble through the air.

Verizon workers are on strike. And in Dedham, they are visible and bringing attention to their fight to get a new contract.

What are your thoughts on the Verizon strike? Have you been affected by the strike?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

I think it's certainly the right thing to do, especially in the wake of Verizon's massive fiber-optic cable line installation, a booming cable business, and overall expansion of their satellite network. It's quite obvious that the CEOs of companies, especially the CEO of Verizon, is stuffing his pockets with a larger-than-necessary salary and huge bonuses, while the men and women on the front lines, the people who allow the company function, are getting the short end of the stick.

The economic crisis that we're experiencing now, is the fault of Big Bank, and Big Corporation CEOs (including Verizon's own Ivan Seidenberg), who donate huge chunks of their income to candidates running for public office to ensure policy is voted on "correctly."

These workers have a right to strike, and perhaps, just maybe, Verizon will feel the pain of having 45,000+ workers striking. Hopefully prices for services will drop slightly, and a message will be sent to Verizon that treating employees and customers right is priority number one.
