POLL: How Walkable is Dedham?

Does the town's reputation of being somewhat walkable when compared to others in Massachusetts ring true to you?

Considering that Dedham is currently undergoing plans throughout the town for improving sidewalks, along with the Dedham Square Improvement Project, we want to know how walkable you think the city is now.

According to WalkScore.com, Dedham has a "Somewhat Walkable" score of 55 out of 100 towns with at least 10,000 residents in Massachusetts.

But how does it feel to you? Give your opinion by taking our poll, and watch for next Tuesday's roundup of the results.

Dedham is very walkable, but it would be nice if people stopped parking on the sidewalk. Those of us with strollers are forced onto the street.

Maybe it's pretty walkable in Dedham square or the Oakdale or Riverdale sections but it's not to walkable for young families or the elderly in East Dedham. Some streets have sidewalks & some don't. And the vehicles speed on Dedham blvd & sometimes on Bussey & Milton streets.

I also believe the East Dedham section is less walkable than the Dedham Square area. The intersections are very wide in East Dedham making it difficult (esp. for the elderly) to get across before the light changes and heaven forbid someone will wait once their light turns green!

I agree that East Dedham is not walker friendly. On some streets the residents park on the sidewalks and walkers are forced to walk in the street. I thought this was illegal to completely block a public walkway.
