The 2011 'Dancing with the Dedham Stars' opened to a sold out house at Moseley's on Saturday night. The event, spearheaded by Dimitria Sullivan, president of the Dedham Educational Partnership, showcases six people locals chosen to train with a professional dancer and compete in the competition.

While there is both a technical winner chosen by the judges and a popular winner chosen by the crowd, the real winner are the Dedham schools, which receives much of the proceeds from the annual event.

This years 'Dedham Stars' included:

Peter Springer - Dedham Youth Soccer Board and VP in Investment Services

Rosemary Rooney - Former Town Hall Registrar's Clerk

Kevin Hampe - local attorney and former DWTDS judge

Erin MacDonald - DHS varsity field hockey coach

Andrew Shumway - teacher and baseball coach

Debra Gately - DMS Principal
