Oakdale Students Raise $600 for Food Pantry

The fifth grade student council led the charge for donations.

For the seventh consecutive year, Oakdale Elementary School principal
Holli Armstrong directed her fifth grade student council on a mission.

Each year, Ms. Armstrong leads her group from classroom to classroom "Caroling for Coins."

Just before the holiday break, the Oakdale students in grades 1 - 5 were asked to bring a "bag of coins" or some spare change in to school from home. Ms. Armstrong and her fifth graders sing to each and every class, collecting the coins on their way out.

The coins were tallied and a check was presented to the Dedham Food Pantry. At a recent school wide assembly, Ms. Armstrong proudly told her students that they had collected a near-record amount of over $600 for a very worthy cause

The Oakdale kids should be very proud of their accomplishment and the DFP appreciates all their efforts!
