Finding an easy walking trail in Dedham that is a good length can be tough. 

The walking trails at might be a spot you've never noticed before as you travel up and down Common Street in Dedham.

"The trail, for the most part, hugs the [Charles] River," said Jane Baker, a spokesperson for Hebrew Senior Life.

After parking at the lot for Wilson Mountain, cross the street and enter at the Whitcomb Woods trailhead, and that'll connect you to the NewBridge trails.

The two-mile, mostly shaded pathway is made of packed crushed stone, very level and without large boulders or trees in the middle of the path.

"Wilson [Mountain] is more of a hike. This is more of a walking trail. People would find this trail a lot easier and more accessible than Wilson Mountain," Baker said.

Three gazeebos sit with views of the Charles River for a calm spot to picnic or relax.

But one of the most relaxing spots is an observation deck overlooking a vernal pool.

In a year, Baker said theyh hope to add a public kayak tie-up location along the trail to link it to the .

"We're starting to see more people using the trails - especially families on the weekends," Baker said.

The trail is open from dawn until dusk, and it has a "leave no trace" philosophy.
