Morning Accidents Snarl Rte. 128 Traffic, Send 2 to Hospital

Two accidents within 15 minutes of each other caused minor injuries to two people.

Two Thursday morning accidents on Rte. 128 Northbound in Dedham snarled traffic for more than an hour from Exit 13 to Exit 16.

A motorcyclist crashed at about 9:15 a.m. near Exit 16 on Rte. 128 Northbound after an unknown vehicle cut him off, according to Massachusetts State Police.

David Charette, 24 of North Attleboro, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Glover Hospital, a police spokesman said Thursday.

The car that cut off Charette's 2004 Suzuki GSX R60 kept going without pulling over, police said.

Just 15 minutes later near Exit 15 on Rte. 128 Northbound, a Braintree woman was rear-ended by a commercial tractor driven by Richard Stanton, 56 of Shrewsbury, police said.

The woman, Arlete Lopes, 47, was driving a 1999 Nissan Altima and sustained minor injuries. She was transported to the hospital, according to state police.

The crash is still under investigation, but a police spokesman said it could've been a result of the traffic jam caused by the first accident.
