Moms Talk: Smoke-Free Cars for Kids?

Several states have passed or are considering such a bill, should Massachusetts adopt one?

Moms Talk is a feature on Dedham Patch that is part of an initiative on our Patch sites to reach out to moms and families.

Each week in Moms Talk, our Moms Council of experts and smart moms take your questions, give advice and share solutions.

Moms, dads, grandparents and the diverse families who make up our community will have a new resource for questions about local neighborhood schools, the best pediatricians, 24-hour pharmacies and the thousands of other issues that arise while raising children.

So grab a cup of coffee and settle in as we start the conversation today.

Currently, the state government is discussing a bill that would fine drivers for smoking in a car that has a child in a child restraint.

Should Massachusetts pass a law banning smoking in a car when kids are present?

Give us your thoughts in the comment section below.

With the documented health risks of second-hand smoke for children (i.e. increased incidence of asthma and increased ear infections), it seems like passage of this law would be a no-brainer.
