Police Nab Alleged Prostitute Staying in Local Hotel
Aug. 2 Lexington Police sting resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old Dedham woman allegedly working out of the Quality Inn just off Rt. 128/95.
Acting on tips from hotel staff and information culled from seedy Internet ads, Lexington Police Thursday night arrested a 23-year-old Dedham woman on charges of selling sex inside a room of a Bedford Street hotel.
Police received a tip earlier in the week from staff at the Quality Inn on Bedford Street in Lexington, and followed up on that by reviewing websites where prostitutes passing through the area are known to advertise their services. Investigators executed a sting operation at 9:55 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, and arrested Kaylynn M. Dyer, 23, of 15 Bussey St., Dedham, on prostitution charges.
Police in Lexington have made a handful of prostitution arrests since last summer, most of them involving an alleged prostitute passing through the area and staying for a while in a hotel or apartment in town.
According to Lt. Det. Michael McLean of the Lexington Police Department, these alleged prostitutes may take up a room in Lexington due to its location along Route 128/95, a major highway that bisects the town.
McLean said local hotels are good about informing police when guests appear to be engaging in illicit activity, such as prostitution. Police also use technological tools and interagency communication to keep tabs on these kind of vice activities around town.
“Obviously we take these things very seriously and don’t tolerate this kind of activity in our town,” McLean said.

The town of Dedham is fortunate to have such dedicated men and women on the police force. They work hard and put their lives on the line for each of us every day. The last two comments were in poor taste and absurd.

We will need police details for as long as people continue to do bad things....you have to have a detail at a construction site...as some drivers don't obey the laws and speed through...and people get hurt, you have to have them at banks as people continue to rob banks...the public needs police details. I don't consider it money wasted..considering what they get paid to put there life on the line..which is peanuts. What I do consider money wasted is letting all these people get food stamps and letting them use it to get a tattoo or pay for a vacation. Why should all my hard earned money go to them and thats not benefiting me..but a police detail is!

Really, L? An officer sitting in the cruiser at a highway lane drop at 1am? How about the other THREE cruisers at the same location? A standing officer on his cell phone next to an NStar truck cutting branches away from the telephone wires at the end of a dead end street with only 2 houses on it? Really?

Kirby you had better watch your language. The thought police are always watching, with their fingers on the delete button.
Censorship sucks. But if the editorial staff at the Patch insists on trying to eliminate opinions that descent, ala Mumbles Menino, (didn't that workout really well for him?) could you please continue your censorship by getting rid of the picture/ad from the Messiah and Michelle. The picture and message is nauseating to me.

Really Kirby! Really! Yes that officer needs to sit at a highway lane drop at 1am to watch out for the construction workers..because obviously the drunk drivers are not, and yes an officer can be on his cell phone next to an NStar truck...they do get calls at work just like everyone else. You want to be mad at someone? Be mad at the drunk drivers, the drug dealers, junkie and thieves, they are the reason the cops get the details in the first place. I rather see the police getting a detail than a flag man who gets "prevailing wages" for holding up a sign..

Hmmm...I've included too many variables...It's not about the officer on the phone, it's about the need for any detail at all, at a tree trimming on a street that is 70 yards long with no traffic. No interaction there with drunk drivers, drug dealers, junkie and thieves. Regarding your "wages" comment - in fact, this IS all about the money and a flag-man at 'prevailing wages' will certainly cost us taxpayers less money than a police officer, no?

My taxes have tripled. Almost to the point that I can't pay them anymore. I look back over the few years I've been a resident and think about why that is. There are a couple of things that I've noticed that have increased dramatically over this period. One is my sewer bill that has quadrupedal. And the second is the amount of cops working details. Do you think there is any correlation between triple time, for staring at a hole, and my bill?
The bank has run dry. The sooner the public sector unions realize this the better off this country will be.
