Five Things You Need to Know: August 1

Hello August. Rotary club and stories and snacks in the morning with Irish folk music and open gym hours at night.

 

 

Today's Weather: There's a 30% chance of heavy rain today with highs of 84. Rain may continue into the evening as temperatures drop to 64 according to the National Weather Service.

1. The Neponset Valley Sunrise Rotary Club will have its weekly meeting this morning at 7:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn on 55 Ariadne Road.

2. Whole Foods at Legacy Place will be having their weekly Stories and Snacks seminar this morning at 9:30 a.m. Come on down to try some free samples and listen to information about healthy eating tips.

3. There will be Irish folk music tonight at 7 p.m. as part of the Endicott Summer Series Concerts at the estate on 656 East St.

4. Tonight, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Dedham Community House, middle schoolers and high schoolers can swing by for open gym sessions including pick up basketball games.

5. Today in History: It was today in 1936 that the summer olympics began in Berlin, Germany. Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party oversaw the games.
