Dedham Pair Charged With Intent to Distribute Marijuana

Police arrested Ashley Deberry and Robert Perea, Jr., on Saturday following the execution of a search warrant.

detectives arrested two Dedham residents Saturday morning for alleged possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and one for alleged possession of a drug used to treat opiate addiction.

Officers obtained a search warrant from to search an apartment at 42 Walnut St. after a two-month investigation by Dedham drug enforcement detectives. 

Police arrested 23-year-old Robert Perea, Jr., and 21-year-old Ashley Deberry after police allegedly found 14 one-gram bags of marijuana and marijuana plant stems in their shared bedroom inside the four-bedroom apartment.

Officer Robert Walsh also stated in his report that officers confiscated a digital scale from the bedroom.

While Walsh read the two their Miranda rights, Perea allegedly said "everything in the room is mine." However, Walsh stated in his report that Deberry's possessions were found very close to the pot.

Once police finished reading the pair their Miranda rights, Perea and Derberry declined to answer any more questions, Walsh stated.

They were taken to the police station and booked.

Police also searched the other three bedrooms, but only found sandwich bags and drug paraphernalia, reports stated. 

When they searched a vehicle belonging to 21-year-old Jessie Peloquin, a resident of the apartment, police allegedly found Suboxone tablets in her purse. Suboxone is used to treat opiate addiction. According to Walsh, Peloquin didn't have a prescription for the medication. 

She was charged with possession of a class B substance.
