Dedham Man Charged with Breaking and Entering into a Local Church

According to police, the man broke into the church "in search of peace."

 

A Dedham man is now being charged with breaking and entering into the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in the South End, according to The Boston Globe.

According to police, Jorge Jose Guevara was found on the floor in the the storage area surrounded by battery-operated candles, eucharistic wafers and wine.  The witness who discovered him called police because she feared the cathedral would burn down.

According to reports, the Guevara told police that he came to the church  "in search of peace."

In his arraignment Wednesday he pleaded not guilty in Boston Municipal Court, according to The Boston Globe.  He was then ordered to undergo a competency evaluation with a court clinician.  His next court date is Dec. 28.
