World AIDS Awareness Day

Welcome to "About Town," a column that will keep you up to the minute with what's what, who's who and what the town's talking about. Check in often, because we will be updating often. And if you see or hear something we could use here, let us know.

Today is World AIDS Day, a day to raise awareness for the AIDS epidemic. Sandra Gojak, a 6-year resident, is wearing red today to support and says, "I told all my friends to be sure and use protection, it may just be words, but even if just one person hears and decides to listen to me it means I am helping." Be sure to do your part to help raise awareness of AIDS in the world.

Teresa Dillard, of Donahue Real Estate, has been extremely busy crafting and constructing for the Jamaica Plain Holiday Craft Fair slated for this Saturday. She is creative in how she uses recycled materials for crafts, and is making trees out of recycled wool, vintage clothes and linens, recycled cashmere scarves and sweaters. Proceeds from her table at the craft fair will benefit the Dedham Food Pantry, Dillard said. She's giving back not only in her neighborhood but others, she says, "Everyone could use a little help this year."

Dancing Preparations

Selectman Sarah MacDonald was busy last night making crafts for her dancing debut this Saturday for Dedham's Dancing with the Stars fundraiser. She could not talk long but said, "It's going to be a great show." Proceeds from the event will benefit the Dedham Education Partnership.

About this column: "About Town" will bring you the latest news, events and neighborhood chatter throughout the day. Related Topics: Heather Castle and Sarah MacDonald
