Live Music Saturday at Deli After Dark

Acoustic cover artist Joe Rich will perform at Deli After Dark at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Joe Rich, who is described as a Jimmy Buffett mixed with Axl Rose and Dean Martin with a sprinkle of dark Irish humor, has performed since January 2000, when he played his first gig in a three-piece band called Oh Dear God.

Parks and Recreation Commission Vacancy

There is now a position open in the Park and Recreation Commission. If you would like to be considered for the position, file a resume and a statement with the town administrator's office by Oct. 24.

Board of Selectman Meeting

The Board of Selectmen will meet tonight at 7 p.m., in the Francis O'Brien Meeting Room. The agenda goes as follows:

  • 7:00 p.m. Open Discussion
  • 7:05 p.m. Execution of MOU with Public Works Unit B
  • 7:10 p.m. Discussion with Engineering Department re: Unpaid Sewer(s)
  • 7:25 p.m. Request Change of Manager re: Oasis Pub, Inc., 77 Washington St., John Carter, Mgr.
  • 7:30 p.m. Discussion with County Commissioners
  • 7:45 p.m. Discussion with Karen O'Connell, economic development director

There will also be requests for licenses and a couple block parties.

The Clippers winter swim team will start its winter season next month, and they are looking for new talent. The co-ed team is comprised of children ranging from 5 years old to 18 years old.

Call for Clipper Swim Team Registration

Practices at the Dedham Pool start Monday, Nov. 4, for all swimmers 10 and younger at 6 p.m., and on Tuesday, Nov. 3, for all swimmers 11 and older at 6 p.m. The first night of practice for both age groups will serve as try-outs for new team members. Justin House Softball Game

The Justin House, a healing ministry for young adults and teens who are searching for a better life, will host a softball game at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Condon Park. The event will raise money and awareness of the organization's goal of healing through music, art, trades, religious teachings, services and events. Bedtime Poetry

If you're looking for a way to get out of that bedtime story, then  head on over to the Blue Bunny at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Jennifer and Colin White, a mother and son team, will be there sharing their silly poetry books - "Coolhead Luke and other Stories" and "On the Edge with Coolhead Luke."
