Brush Fire Heading Toward Rte. 128 Held at Bay

Smoke conditions dissipating in Manor and Greenlodge neighborhoods.

Update: Officials have reportedly closed down the University Avenue exit on Rte. 128 north on the Westwood/Dedham line.

Dedham Fire officials say the smoke from a brush fire, of reportedly 20 acres of land, is dying down.

The fire is headed toward Rte. 128 but fire officials have a defensive perimeter around it keeping it from traveling further.

The area the fire is in is swampy and officials say they are hoping with that and the dropping humidity it could die down more and not cause any more problems.

Both the Greenlodge section of town and Manor section don't have much of a smell of smoke anymore. Greenlodge is clear, while a faint smell of smoke remains in Manor. No more embers are flying around.

Is this the land in which the Amtrak train tracks run through?

Yes, it is the line that runs to the Rte. 128 station in Westwood.

The smoke in the picture of the Boston skyline is really from the Westwood fire?
