Behind the Biz: Vincenzo's Italian Deli
The owners are firm believers in "the way into a person's heart, is through their stomachs."
When Giuseppe Musto and his wife Marcella decided to open Vincenzo's Italian Deli, in Dedham Square, it wasn't because they just wanted to open up a business.
For Giusseppe, who was born and raised in Italy, he felt that there was a need for an Italian Deli, and he also wanted to share the food that he and his family love.
"For us, the most important thing is quality," Marcella told Patch. "My husband is a trained chef from Italy, so quality is the most important thing for the both of us.
When asked if there were any challenges, Marcella just shrugged her shoulders as if it was something that shouldn't matter.
"The holiday season is coming up, so we are trying to prepare for the holiday catering orders," she said.
From their Buba cakes to Zeppoles, they have a wide variety of food to add an Italian twist to any event. And there services have been used at many events in Dedham, including Taste Dedham and the 90th Anniversary of the Dedham Community House.
One of Marcella's favorite things is seeing the interactions between the customers and their food.
"I love our customers because they are always willing to try new things," she said. "I believe that the way through a person's heart is through a person's stomach. And we want to get to your heart. We want you to fall in love with our food."
Guissepe didn't have time to speak for the interview, but it was intriguing to see how he would go back and forth from the kitchen to the front counter, with a sense of calmness. You could tell that he really was in love with his job.
Marcella was born and raised in Dedham, and nothing makes her more proud then to be "a part of the square."
"We're the only Italian shop in the square. And there are a lot of mom and pop shops here, and they're great! I go to many of them! It's just nice to be in the square," she said.
Marcella Musto will also be competing in this year's Dancing with the Dedham Stars.
