5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 25

Today's weather, free parking in Dedham Square and a meeting about the proposed site of a new police station.

  1. There's a chance of showers in the afternoon, but other than that expect partly sunny, with a high near 56, according to the National Weather Service.

  2. The Dedham High School softball team will play Natick at home today at 3:45 p.m. They are also raffling off Red Sox tickets. Email coach Erika Eisenhunt to enter.

  3. Put those quarters away and feed the piggy bank. Parking is free in Dedham Square throughout the remainder of the Dedham Square Improvement Project. 

  4. In honor of National Poetry Month, the Dedham Public Library will host a Poetry Open Mic Night at 7 p.m.

  5. The Building Planning and Construction Committee will hold a public meeting to discuss the proposed site of a new police station at the former St. Mary's parking lot on High Street. The meeting is at the new Avery School at 7 p.m.
