5 Things to Do This Weekend: June 10-12

This weekend brings the annual Music and Art Festival, as well as an ice cream social and blood drive.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Dedham Patch is coming to the rescue. Check our picks for the best activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore this weekend!

  1. Dedham Square Music & Art Festival
    Where/When: Saturday from 11:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Dedham Community House field
Why go: To enjoy a great day of music, art, and fun. This is the third annual Music and Art Festival and the lineup gets better every year. This year the schedule is really impressive, featuring bands such as the Adam Ezra Group and Entrain. Several artists will be showcasing their work, and from 12-4 there will be a concurrent Green Fair.
    Pricing: Free. Children are welcome.
Tips:  Bring a blanket or lawn chair

  2. Stanley Cup Game 5 (GO BRUINS!)
Where/When: Friday 8 p.m. at Deli After Dark, 545 High Street
Why go:   Great beer list, killer apps, and delicious pizza. Not to mention the joy of watching the game with a crowd. I hear the chicken wings are finger-biting good.
    Pricing: Reasonable

  3. Ice Cream Sundae Social to benefit “If Not You, Who?”
    Where/When: Saturday 2 - 5 p.m. at Whole Foods Dedham
Why go:  Dedham student Erica King started this organization to help people learn about different ways they can help make the world better.  What better way to learn about different charities than while eating ice cream sundaes?
    Pricing: Suggested donation $5

  4. Red Cross Blood Drive
Where/When: Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dedham Red Cross Donor Center
Why go:  There is a critical need for types O and B negative right now. You can help save a life in just 10-15 minutes
    Pricing: Free

  5. Kings Karoke Contest
    Where/When: Friday at 9 p.m. Registration begins at 8 p.m.
Why go: Kings will host a New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys karoke contest - and the winner will receive a pair of tickets to the joint boy band concert at Fenway Park on Saturday night.
    Pricing: Free to sing.

I think I'd rather engage in finger - biting good wings (and I'm a vegetarian), than risk the off chance of winning tickets to see New Kids On The Block. Thanks for the tips!
