VISIONS HEALTHCARE HIRES NEW FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE PHYSICIAN

October 4, 2012 – Wellesley, Mass.) Visions HealthCare, an integrative healthcare facility located in Wellesley, announced the addition of Dr. Richard Chen to its growing practice.

A family medicine practitioner, Chen joins Visions with nearly 20 years of primary care experience. He specializes in the practice of functional medicine, a patient-centered approach to healthcare that addresses the whole person and takes into account lifestyle and environmental factors, rather than just symptoms, to identify the root cause of illness and assist the body in healing itself. Chen supports lifestyle changes like nutrition, weight and sleep, and has taken his love for cooking and applied it to his practice by treating food as medicine.

Previously, Chen was a practicing physician at Harvard Vanguard in Braintree, Mass.  He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees through an accelerated program at Albany Medical College in New York and completed his medical internship and residency at Somerset Medical Center in New Jersey. Chen resides in Milton with his wife and young daughter. In his spare time, he practices Aikido, a Japanese martial art which is as much a mental exercise as well as physical.

“We are very excited to have Dr. Chen join our practice,” stated Dr. Edward Levitan, founder of Visions HealthCare. “His expertise and understanding of practicing functional medicine and treating the body holistically will provide our patients with the caliber of care they have come to expect at Visions.

About Visions HealthCare
