- Deceased's name: Louis J. Melchionna
Mr. Louis John Melchionna, a longtime resident of Dedham, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at his daughter’s home at the age of 88.
He was born on March 27, 1924 in Boston, a son of the late Rose (Agripino) Melchionna and Louis Melchionna. Raised in the North End and Everett, he graduated from Everett High School. He then served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Andromeda during World War II.
A longtime Dedham resident, Mr. Melchionna was the successful owner and operator of Moseley’s on the Charles for over 30 years. The fine banquet and ballroom facility hosted many weddings and events that he helped organize over his 30+ year career.
When not working, Lou was happiest on the golf course. For many years, he was an avid golfer at Norfolk Golf Club in Westwood where he had made many friends and fond memories. He found great joy in his passion for golf, but above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his family. Lou also enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots.
Mr. Melchionna was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Calabrese) Melchionna with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Cherished son of the late Rose (Agripino) and Louis Melchionna. Proud father of Diana L. Fay and her husband Richard of Saugus, and the late James D. Melchionna. Dear brother of Ronald of Salem, NH, Anthony of Saugus, and the late Nicholas, Angelo, and Joseph. Cherished grandfather of Tara Melchionna of Wilmington, Kristen Curtis and her husband Philip of Sandwich, Leah Bruley and her husband John of Blaine, MN, Ryan D. Fay and his wife Laura of Melrose, and Allison C. Farraher and her husband Michael of Saugus. Loving great-grandfather of Kelsey, Nicholas, Alissa, Gianna, Dante, Isabella, Noah, and Calabrese. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and his longtime friend, Mary Mancinelli of Needham.
