DMS Students Donate 2,500 Items to Food Pantry
With the Holiday season upon us principal Debra Gately, vice principal Margo Fraczek and the students at Dedham Middle School recently held their annual food drive.
For the first few weeks in November, the 650 students brought in their donations from home. Each of the 30 homeroom teachers kept track of the goods and arrangements were made - with the help of parent volunteers - to transport everything to the Dedham Food Pantry.
Especially at this time of year, the food pantry relies heavily on the help of the students and their families.
Though they fell short of their goal (3,000 pieces) Ms. Gately and Ms. Fraczek were very pleased with the DMS results. Over 2,500 items - a total that surpassed the previous year - were collected and delivered in time to help families in need throughout the community.
